Hormone Replacement Therapy In Commack, NY

Fatigue that sleep doesn’t fix. Weight that won’t move. Mood swings, poor sleep, low libido, changes in your skin and hair. These symptoms get attributed to stress or aging for years before anyone checks whether hormones are behind them.

At NuWave Medical in Commack, we test first. Every hormone replacement plan here begins with comprehensive lab work and a full consultation, so treatment is based on your actual levels rather than a guess about your symptoms.

We treat both men and women, and we’ve been doing it on Long Island since 2011.

Hormone Replacement For Men And Women

NuWave was founded to help both men and women navigate the hormonal changes their bodies go through over time. That means our practice isn’t built around a single protocol.

For women, hormone therapy is most often about the transition into and through menopause — typically between ages 45 and 55, though symptoms can start earlier. As estrogen and progesterone decline, the effects show up across sleep, mood, memory, weight, and comfort.

For men, it’s usually declining testosterone, which affects energy, muscle mass, mood, sexual health, and metabolic function.

We also treat testosterone in women, which is more important to women’s health than it’s often given credit for. The ovaries produce testosterone, and women lose roughly half of their production by age 40.

Signs Your Hormones May Be Out Of Balance

Hormone imbalance shows up physically and emotionally, and rarely as one isolated symptom.

Common across men and women:

Persistent fatigue and low energy

Mood swings and emotional instability

Weight gain, or difficulty losing weight despite diet and exercise

Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up rested

Decreased libido

Changes in skin and hair, including excessive shedding or texture changes

More specific to declining estrogen in women:

Hot flashes and night sweats

Vaginal dryness

Concentration and memory difficulties

Accumulation of fat in the abdomen

Thinning hair

Urinary problems

Reduced fertility

Irritability

Estrogen does more than most people realize. It helps maintain bone density, regulates skin temperature, and maintains vaginal moisture — which is why a drop in estrogen produces such a scattered set of symptoms.

Your Hormone Therapy Options At NuWave Medical

Different bodies and different situations call for different delivery methods. We offer a range, and we decide which one fits you after reviewing your labs.

Bioidentical hormone pellets

Bioidentical hormones are structurally identical to the hormones your body produces naturally. Pellets deliver a consistent, customized dose over time rather than the peaks and drops that can come with other methods.

We are a certified Biote provider, offering Biote hormone implants, pellets, and supplements for both men and women. We also provide custom-compounded BHRT pellets for women, made from hormones compounded in quality-controlled facilities in the United States and inserted subcutaneously in the upper buttocks during a straightforward in-office procedure.

Testosterone Injections For Men

Injections are the most common form of testosterone replacement therapy. Our medical staff administers them here in our office, and results typically appear within two to three weeks.

Systemic Hormone Therapy

Systemic therapy is effective at easing the broader symptoms of menopause — hot flashes, night sweats, dryness, itching, and discomfort. You can apply it as a gel or cream.

Low-dose vaginal products

For women whose primary symptoms are vaginal or urinary, low-dose vaginal preparations are often the preferred approach. They come in cream form, and absorption into the rest of the body is minimal. Hormone therapy also helps prevent the bone loss that raises fracture risk after menopause.

Non-prescription options

For milder cases, we also offer non-prescription over-the-counter products. Not everyone who walks through our door needs prescription hormone therapy, and we’ll tell you if you don’t.

What to expect

  1. Consultation: A member of our clinical team reviews your symptoms, medical history, current medications, and goals.
  2. Comprehensive lab work: We test your hormone levels and related markers. This is not optional — it’s how we determine whether you’re a candidate and what your plan should look like.
  3. Determining candidacy and building your plan: Following a comprehensive consultation and analysis of your lab work, we determine whether hormone replacement is appropriate for you and which delivery method fits.
  4. Beginning treatment: For pellet therapy, insertion can happen during that appointment or at a quick follow-up. For injections, we administer treatment in our office.
  5. Regular monitoring and adjustment: Follow-up appointments let us confirm the therapy is working and adjust your levels as needed. Hormone therapy is managed over time, not prescribed once.
New patients complete intake paperwork before their first visit. Separate packets are available for hormone replacement for women and for testosterone replacement therapy, both downloadable from our Forms section.

Safety, Screening, And Who This Isn’t For

Hormone replacement therapy is a medical treatment, and it isn’t right for everyone. Before starting, a qualified provider must evaluate you and review your full medical history.

Your consultation will cover:

Existing medical conditions
Current medications
Any history of hormone-related cancers

Regular monitoring and follow-up appointments are part of treatment, not an optional add-on, and we ask patients to report any unusual symptoms promptly.

Individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and those with certain medical conditions, may need alternative hormone management strategies.

If hormone replacement isn’t appropriate for you, we’ll say so and discuss what is.
